Our FAQ, frequently asked questions at The Memories Place
When will I receive my order?
For knitted products, it normally takes up to 7 business days {most times even less}, from the day we
receive the photo to the day it is shipped. (extra time required during the holiday season). For woven products expect delivery in 3 - 5 weeks. Please make sure your email account is accepting mail from "john@thememoriesplace.com" Many times we try to correspond with a customer and our email gets lost in a spam filter. If that happens it can possibly delay your order.
What is the difference between knitted and woven throws?
A knitted throw is knitted from yarn while the woven ones are woven with thread. The knitted ones, because of the yarn are a bit thicker and softer than the woven ones which are a Jacquard and have the feel of a bedspread. The knitted throws do not have a fringe, the woven ones have fringe on all four sides.
Tell me about the cost of shipping?
Shipping is FREE on our knitted and woven products going to or from an APO/FPO.
Will the picture fade with washing?
The image will not fade or wash off any product since the image is not printed. It is true knitted or woven fabric. The best way to describe the kintted fabric is to say that it is exactly the same as a sweater and very soft, cuddly and warm. The woven throws are similar to the feel of a bedspread.
What are the care instructions for a Knitted or Woven Throw?
Machine wash in cold water. Air dry, gentle cycle. And of course, you should never use bleach when washing this product.
What types of payment do you accept?
We gladly accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express. We also accept PayPal, personal checks, and money orders.
Do you offer quantity discounts?
Of course, please see our Buy in Bulk page.
How do I choose the best photo?
Almost any photo or flat artwork can be made into a PhotoThrow. The best results will come from a photo that is clear and has good contrast. Photo Recommendations: Image may be color or black-and-white. We will convert it to grayscale if it is going on a b/w throw. Photos where part of the subject is in dark shadow normally do not work. Photos that have good contrast and the subject is close up work best.
Composition:
Keep it simple. Make sure that your subject occupies 60-80% of the photo. This is not an absolute necessity, but it will make for a better finished piece.
What "dpi" settings should I use?
Photos should be scanned at 300dpi or better if possible. While 72dpi is great for the web or email,
there is not enough resoulution for a quality Throw
How about pictures made with my camera phone?
I would suggest you do not send these. They normally do not have enough resolution
How many images are recommended on a throw?
The rule of thumb for this is quite simple. One (1) image for a pillow (our smallest item), Three (3) in a photo for a 30x40 and Five (5) in a photo for the 40x60. While photos that exceed thse basic rules can be made, the reproduction quality diminishes with each additional image and these orders will be made at the buyers risk.
The Knitted Black and White Photo Pillow is limited to ONE facial image and no text.
The black and white bed blanket is perfect for a collage.
Color collages may work, it really depends on the number, resolution and composition of each photo.

Can my photo be cropped?
We will crop your photograph when required or requested. We will crop your
photo to focus on the main subject and leave out less important areas. By doing
so, you receive a better product. Please do not try to crop your photos, many times we need some headroom on the product.
We are happy to handle the cropping for you.
Does it come in color?
The throws do come in color as well as our normal black and white which is still my favorite. Depending on the material and construction there are different quality of photos needed, and different delivery times.
Can I get a proof of the product?
Proofs will be provided after the order is placed if you so request. We will work with you to get the best possible throw and your input is appreciated. Please understand that the proof is only an approximation of the LAYOUT of the final product. It is impossible to show the exact final picture as the knitting or weaving process and the software needed to produce the throw WILL alter the finished product from the proof. Please check your email for the proof and also check to make sure your email client is not blocking or catching our address in a spam filter. You will get the proof from us normally within 24 hours of placing your order.
Can I print the picture and then mail or scan it to you?
Pictures produced on injet printers will not work for a throw.
Is the site secure?
We are a secure site and use either ITransact or PayPal for credit card processing. Your information is always sent securely and encrypted.
