Nature Photography Day is coming up this June 15th. The first Nature Photography Day was celebrated in 2006 to encourage people and families to take to the outdoors and capture the beauty of our world. The North America Nature Photography Association (NANPA) promotes the day as an opportunity to learn about nature conservation and protect animals, plants and places so future generations can enjoy them.

There are a number of ways that you can celebrate Nature Photography Day. Many people are on vacation this time of the year, so June 15th can be a chance for you to explore part of nature in unfamiliar surroundings. Find the nearest national or state park and go enjoy the day and be sure to save a few of your favorite memories. One of the best ways to get to know an area is through it's natural elements.

If you are at home on June 15th get your community involved. You can organize a group meeting with friends, family or community members to go enjoy the nature around you. Volunteer to pick up trash to make the trails or beaches in your hometown a more welcoming environment for everyone visiting. Or you can keep it simple and go for a hike or take your kids to the park and capture all the fun!

Supporting national or state parks, whether local or not is very vital to the conservation cause. Contributing a few dollars for entrance fees goes a long way to help preserve these important ecosystems. If you love being in nature think about an annual pass or becoming a member so you can enjoy your favorite parks on June 15th and the other 364 days of the year.

Whatever you decide to do to celebrate Nature Photography Day please do it carefully. The rise of selfie-related deaths from people trying to capture the perfect picture and falling in nature is a growing problem. Enjoy nature, however be smart, sensible and understand your surroundings. Any picture is a great picture so don’t try to be a daredevil, especially in unfamiliar surroundings.

When you have your nature pictures ready, put them on a collage photo blanket from The Memories Place! Once you’ve collected your favorite photos simply upload them to our site and we’ll send you a few proofs. Our collage blankets are 100% woven and will last a lifetime with minimal care.
